We’re pleased to share that Priyo Maloti (Dear Maloti), directed by Shankha Dasgupta, has officially been selected for the 45th Cairo International Film Festival, under the World Cinema category. The festival will take place in Cairo, Egypt, from November 13–22, 2024, showcasing 194 films from 72 countries.
At Ratherhood Initiatives Ltd., we had the privilege of working as the international distribution partner for Priyo Maloti, supporting its festival strategy and positioning on the global stage. Our role involved facilitating the film’s entry into the international festival circuit, with Cairo being a major milestone in that journey.
As part of its festival slate, Priyo Maloti will enjoy four official screenings, including sessions for general audiences, press, and the festival jury, each accompanied by a Q&A. We’re proud to have contributed to making these moments possible, helping amplify the film’s reach beyond Bangladesh.
Directed by Shankha Dasgupta and featuring Mehazabien Chowdhury in the lead role, Priyo Maloti brings a distinct voice and story from Bangladesh to one of the oldest and most respected film festivals in the Arab world.
