About the Workshop
The thirteenth edition of Shobdo-Goppo-Chhobi—a curated freestyle writing and film project incubation workshop—was successfully held on 18 October 2025 in Dhaka. Designed as a creative process to help participants access their subconscious and develop new story ideas or film blueprints from scratch, the session once again brought together a diverse group of writers, filmmakers, and visual storytellers.
Since its inception during the Covid-19 lockdown in 2020, Shobdo-Goppo-Chhobi has evolved into a unique incubation platform where over 100 ideas—ranging from short stories to film concepts—have been generated. Following the previous session in September (Shobdo-Goppo-Chhobi 12), the 13th edition continued this lineage with renewed focus on intuitive storytelling and guided creative exploration.
Workshop Process
Led by independent film producer, teacher, and curator Fazle Hasan Shishir, the five-hour session guided participants through two phases of creative exercises based on the workshop’s signature “guided form” method.
Each participant received two curated prompts—combining words, images, and symbolic cues—that served as a starting point for their subconscious storytelling process. Through auto-writing, feedback exchanges, and short pitching rounds, participants gradually developed original storylines, characters, and visual frameworks for potential film projects.
The session concluded with collective reflections, where participants shared how the process allowed them to unlock new ideas beyond the constraints of conscious planning—many describing it as a “meditative writing experience.”
Participation and Output
A total of 08 participants joined this session. By the end of the workshop, they collectively developed 08 new ideas, several of which are expected to be expanded into full-fledged film projects or scripts in the coming months. These will be added to the workshop’s growing archive and serve as part of a reference library for future participants.
Facilitator Profile
Fazle Hasan Shishir has been curating and conducting the Shobdo-Goppo-Chhobi workshop for the past five years. Alongside this initiative, he has also facilitated story incubation sessions at Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) and Bangladesh Cinema and Television Institute (BCTI). Two feature film projects developed from these curation processes are currently in pre-production.
