On November 12, 2024, Chhader Chhobi hosted an intimate screening of Once Upon a Time in Anatolia (2011), a crime-drama-thriller by renowned Turkish filmmaker Nuri Bilge Ceylan. The film, which won the prestigious Grand Prix at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival, explores the complexity of human nature within the stark landscape of Anatolia.
This episode provided an opportunity to reflect on the deep philosophical and existential themes Ceylan masterfully weaves into his narrative, blending suspense with profound social commentary.
As with all our screenings, we prioritize thought-provoking discussions over mainstream popularity. Chhader Chhobi remains a space for films that spark contemplation and conversations that push boundaries.
We also announced that, while this event took place, our screenings for November 19 and 26 would be on hold due to prior commitments from the organizers. But we look forward to resuming our regular sessions starting December 3, 2024.
