This Tuesday, the rooftop of Ratherhood Initiative Limited became a space for profound storytelling and reflection as Chhader Chhobi Season 3 continued its exploration of African cinema.
The evening’s feature was Lemohang Jeremiah Mosese’s This Is Not a Burial, It’s a Resurrection (2019). The 120-minute Lesotho-based masterpiece tells the moving tale of an 80-year-old widow grappling with personal loss and communal displacement when her village is threatened by a dam construction. With its hauntingly poetic visuals and deeply resonant themes of resistance and belonging, the film left the audience in awe, sparking rich discussions about cultural identity and the human spirit’s resilience.
Despite the simplicity of the setup, the heartfelt conversations that followed the screening added layers to the experience, reaffirming the unique essence of Chhader Chhobi—a platform for community, cinema, and meaningful dialogue.
Thank you to everyone who joined us this week. A special shoutout to our logistics partners, Cloud Marcom BD and Studio Junction, for their unwavering support in bringing these evenings to life.
Stay tuned for next week’s announcement as we continue this journey through global storytelling!
